Scottish Athletics International (SAI)
Code of Conduct
All athletes, officials, volunteers, and representatives participating in or attending any event organized or sponsored by Scottish Athletics International (SAI) are required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct. By participating in an SAI event, you agree to uphold these standards at all times.
1. Integrity and Ethical Conduct
Honesty: Act with integrity in all interactions and refrain from any dishonest, unethical, or illegal behavior, including but not limited to falsifying documents or manipulating competition results.
Fair Play: Compete with respect, sportsmanship, and professionalism. Treat teammates, competitors, officials, and event staff with courtesy and strive to perform to the best of your ability.
2. Respect and Inclusion
Respect for Others: Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
3. Prohibited Substances
Compliance: Individuals are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable rules and regulations regarding prohibited substances, including those set forth by governing bodies and host organizations.
4. Legal and Social Conduct
Compliance with Laws: Adhere to all applicable local, national, and international laws.
Ambassadorial Responsibility: Participants represent Scottish Athletics International and their sport. Conduct must reflect positively on SAI at all times, including in public settings and on social media.
5. Event and Competition Rules
Adherence to Rules: Follow all rules, policies, and procedures established by SAI and the host athletic director or organizing committee.
Respect for Facilities and Property: Use all facilities, equipment, and property responsibly and with care throughout the duration of the event.
6. Consequences for Violations
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
Verbal Warning: Issued for an initial or minor violation.
Suspension: Repeated violations may result in suspension from participation in SAI-managed events for up to one (1) year.
Permanent Ban: Serious violations, including but not limited to assault or other severe misconduct, may result in a lifetime ban from all SAI-managed events.
