Scottish Athletics International
Code of Conduct
All athletes, host-game representatives, and individuals representing Scottish Athletics International (SAI) at any event organized or sanctioned by SAI are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct. This Code establishes the standards of behavior required to ensure integrity, fairness, and respect across all SAI activities.
1. Integrity and Ethical Conduct
Honesty: Act with integrity in all interactions and refrain from dishonest, unethical, or illegal behavior, including but not limited to document falsification or manipulation of competition outcomes.
Fair Play: Compete with good sportsmanship, demonstrate respect for teammates, competitors, officials, and volunteers, and consistently strive for excellence within the rules of the sport.
2. Respect and Inclusion
Respect for Others: Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, color, sex, status (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
3. Prohibited Substances
Compliance: Athletes are solely responsible for understanding and complying with all rules and regulations regarding prohibited substances, including applicable anti-doping policies.
4. Legal and Social Conduct
Compliance with Laws: Abide by all applicable local, regional, and national laws while participating in SAI-related activities.
Ambassadorial Responsibility: Recognize that you serve as an ambassador for your sport, your country, and SAI. Conduct yourself professionally and responsibly in public settings and across all online platforms.
5. Competition Rules and Event Policies
Adherence to Rules: Familiarize yourself with and comply with all SAI policies, competition rules, and directives issued by the host athletic director or organizing committee.
Respect for Facilities and Property: Demonstrate care and respect for all venues, facilities, equipment, and property used during SAI events.
6. Consequences of Violations
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
Verbal Warning: A first violation may result in a formal verbal warning issued by SAI.
Suspension: A subsequent violation may result in suspension from participation in any SAI-managed event for a period of one (1) year.
Permanent Ban: Serious misconduct, including but not limited to assault or other egregious violations, may result in a lifetime ban from all SAI-managed events.
