Meet the old school NASGA website
If you’ve been around the Highland Games for 10 years or more, then you know…
You know how hard it used to be to find solid information about this sport. You knew where to go to figure out how to train, where to get implements, or how to find out how to weld and bolt your own together in the garage. You knew where you needed to go to find a training group or your next competition... NASGA!
And that’s why the North American Scottish Games Athletics forums were everything. They weren’t just helpful... they were the hub of Highland Games. One place, organized, searchable, and easy to navigate. You could follow a thread from start to finish, watch ideas evolve, and actually find the information again months or years later without scrolling through endless noise.
That’s something modern social media still hasn’t figured out. Forums were linear. Topics stayed where they belonged. No broken search, no algorithm burying useful posts, no constant app glitches or updates that made everything harder to use. You went there to learn, and you actually left smarter than when you logged in.
More importantly, the forums were great because the people made them great. Our sports' champions and legends logged in, answered questions, posted training advice, and helped grow the sport in real time. That kind of direct access shaped an entire generation of throwers.
It is my pleasure to introduce any of you who don't already know to this veritable library and treasure trove of information. So, take a walk down memory lane with me and start with one of those storied champions. She's one of the greatest throwers, and one of the best humans, to ever grace our sport: Adriane Wilson.
